Coastal Kiddos®

Brooks is a Business Owner and Head Teacher at Coastal Kiddos. She graduated UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Agroecology. Brooks' focus of interest is the interconnectedness between all living things and sharing that curiosity and passion with the world to create a more sustainable future. Brooks enjoys connecting with her community by sharing meals grown in her garden. When she is not teaching or cooking, you can find her swimming in the ocean or dancing with her friends at festivals. Her favorite animal is the Killer Whale.

Clara is an adventure addict with a passion for the ocean. She graduated with a degree in Environmental and Ocean Sciences from the University of San Diego emphasizing in marine ecology and environmental studies. She is passionate about sharing her love of sustainability, protecting our environment, gardening/composting, and all things ocean-related with those around her. In her free time, you can find her sailing, freediving, rock climbing, cooking, or hanging at the beach with friends. She is currently working on her Captains’ License so she can run her own research vessel for students in the future, and actually lives on her own boat too. Her favorite animal is the Thresher Shark!

Yuli Martinez graduated from CSU San Marcos in the fall of 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with a concentration in ecology. She enjoys traveling (she has been to 22/50 states), indoor rock climbing, and outdoor activities. She also is taking steps in becoming an ocean conservation advocate and hopes to use her skills to inform and inspire other to help protect our oceans. Her favorite marine animal is the Dolphin.

Kiera is a San Diego County Native with a degree in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz. There, she deepened her passion for sustainability, agroecology, love for the outdoors and travel. While in school Kiera studied and interned at the campus farm, as well as taught elementary kids about the wonders of growing their own food. Kiera spent her last semester studying abroad in Costa Rica where she conducted research testing the efficacy of growing produce in hydroponics in efforts to help mitigate food insecurity in the area. Her favorite animal is the Red Tailed Hawk.

Fiona grew up loving the outdoors in Santa Cruz, California. She graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Recreation, Parks, & Tourism Administration. She has experience working in California and abroad in the fields of habitat restoration and conservation, sustainable agriculture, and gardening. She is passionate about connecting kids to the beauty and importance of nature and learning alongside their creative minds. She enjoys road tripping with her partner and dog, swimming in the ocean, taking film photos, and seeing live music. Her favorite animal is the Sea

Bailey recently graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a B.S. in Environmental Studies. She is passionate about conservation and bridging the divide between humans and nature. She later plans to pursue a career in restoration and science communication. Bailey enjoys spending her time outdoors, dancing, drawing, cooking, and laughing with friends. Her favorite animal is a Salamander.

Hima has been growing and deepening her relationship with the environment over the last few years. She grew up in socal and graduated from UCSD with a degree in Neuroscience in 2022. Last year she was backpacking in the Northwoods working in a wilderness therapy program for adolescents. Back on the west coast Hima likes surfing, but mostly as an excuse to float and watch dolphins early in the morning. You can also find her reading, swing dancing, learning how to cook, or exploring with her dog Boots. Her goal this summer is to start a vegetable patch. Her favorite animal is the Octopus!
